The Keswick Town Council is not responsible for all of these services, however we have provided details on who you can contact for further information. Cumberland Council manages or owns most of the Car Parks in Keswick. Information including parking fees and payment of fines is available on their website www.cumberland.gov.uk or you can telephone them on 0300 373 3730.

An action group has been established in Keswick to co-ordinate ‘streetscene’ (street environment) issues. The group includes representation from the Town Council, Cumberland Council, Housing Associations, Police and Cumbria Highways and meets regularly to monitor progress on issues which have been logged.

The public toilets in Bell Close and Lakeside Car Parks are owned and ran by Keswick Community Asset Company (KCAC). There is a charge of 50p per customer.  Any issues/problems are to be reported to Danfo Tel:- 01253 593141 (the management company working for KCAC).’

Please note the toilets are currently CARD PAYMENT only.

The main recycling centre for Keswick is situated at Otley Road car park.

Events
Events

The Council has facilitated a number of events for national celebrations such as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic Torch Relay in 2012 and a successful Midsummer Festival took place in June 2016.

**PLEASE NOTE WE NO LONGER ISSUE BUSKING BADGES DUE TO THE FORTHCOMING PUBLIC SPACE PROTECTION ORDER – DETAILS TO BE CONFIRMED BY CUMBERLAND COUNCIL**

The Council operates a voluntary code of conduct for buskers wanting to perform in the town centre. Further details can be downloaded here or you can contact the office for further information.

Prior to submitting the application form, please ensure you have read and agree to abide by the following terms and conditions:

    Note for Online applications:
    • When applying online you must either make arrangements to collect your ‘badge’ from the office during opening hours or supply us with a stamped addressed envelope so the ‘badge’ can be posted to you
    • Applicants under the age of 16 years old must be accompanied by a parent at all times and the parent must accept the online application form
    • If your performance is a circle act then proof of your £2m Public Liability insurance will be required (a copy must be sent when applying).

    Keswick Town Council does not own or operate any housing stock. Local Housing Associations and Councils advertise their properties through the Cumbria Choice website where you can join the register and search for social housing.

    Keswick also has a Community Housing Trust, further details can be found on their website www.keswickcommunityhousingtrust.co.uk

    The Town Council took on a lease for an allotment site at the Hawthorns, Penrith Road in 2009, this was extended for a further 7 years in 2017. This provides 10 plots which are all currently tenanted. We maintain a waiting list for those who would like a plot so please get in touch if you think allotmenteering is for you!

    Keswick has an enviable reputation for winning accolades in the annual ‘In Bloom’ competitions and the Town Council works in partnership with Keswick in Bloom to ensure that this reputation continues to be well deserved.

    The Town Council maintains the War Memorial situated at the junction of Penrith Road and Station Road.

    Christmas Lights

    The Council works in partnership with local organisations to provide the annual Christmas lighting display and organises the switch on event which is the focus for an afternoon and evening of festive entertainment.     The Council allocates funds each year to make annual grants to local groups. Please click below for guidelines on these grants. The deadline for applications is usually the end of September and the grants are payable from the following May.
